"Fast And Furious" Just Might Be President Obama's Watergate

Why a gunrunning scandal codenamed “Fast and Furious,” a program run secretly by the U.S. government that sent thousands of firearms over an international border and directly into the hands of criminals, hasn’t been pursued by an army of reporters all trying to be the next Bob Woodward or Carl Bernstein is a story in itself.
National Gun Rights ExaminerDavid Codrea pointed out early this month that every time the "Project Gunwalker" atrocity is described as a "botched gun sting," a lie is being disseminated. The lie is the notion that there was ever the intention of mounting any kind of "sting" to "botch." There was not. There could not have been. No effort was made to track the guns past the border (or, very often, even to the border). When field agents tried to track them any farther than a few blocks from the gun shops, they were ordered to stand down their surveillance. Nor is it the case that the plan was for Mexican authorities to be tipped about what was going on, so they could perform the surveillance.

Obfuscation: Dems Push Gun Control To Hide ‘Gunwalker’ Scandal They choose a pivotal moment in the Gunwalker investigation to announce a gun-control bill.
A handful of Democratic lawmakers in Congress and a fish cop held a press conference Friday to announce a new gun control proposal, the “Stop Gun Trafficking and Strengthen Law Enforcement Act.” The proposed law has no chance of passing, and seems orchestrated as a Democratic response meant to draw attention away from the still-developing “Gunwalker” scandal:
National Rifle Association's Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre addressed the United Nations this afternoon. He told the U.N. to not interfere with the Second Amendment freedoms of Americans and pledged to continue the fight to preserve civilian ownership of firearms in the U.S. He said the NRA will oppose any U.N. provision that seeks to prohibit or regulate U.S. civilian firearm ownership. LaPierre said in his remarks, "The cornerstone of our freedom is the Second Amendment. Neither the United Nations, nor any other foreign influence, has the authority to meddle with the freedoms guaranteed by our Bill of Rights, endowed by our Creator, and due to all humankind."

Congressional hearings on BATFE's Fast and Furious program paused last week, after revealing how straw purchasers were allowed to buy up to 2,500 guns for Mexican drug cartels and walk away freely, over the objections of BATFE agents in the field. The pause may be brief, however. A spokesman for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which conducted the hearings, said early this week that "The investigations are far from over."
