Sorry, Jack, NO DEAL
by CSSA/CILA Team CSSA welcomes Brant Scott and opens Ottawa office.NDP Leader, Jack Layton, claims to have blessed Canadians with a "compromise"
solution to retain the gun registry. Can he seriously believe that firearms
owners are sufficiently naive to acquiesce to this latest attempt to justify the
existence of this bloated, wasteful, and ineffective program?
Let's
examine why: |

CACP plots to abuse Canadian gun owners
by Dennis E. Florian GunOwnersResource Staff We've always known that gun control fanatics, despite their protestations to the contrary, are utterly without regard for the rights of those they oppose or even the law itself. Now, the Canadian National Firearms Association has learned just how low some of them, in this case the Canadian Association of Police Chiefs (CAPC), are willing to go. Gun-grabbers hate nothing more than when the victims of their totalitarian ideology have the audacity to fight back. To discourage this, there is no limit to the spiteful fury they will unleash nor to the abuses they are willing to commit. Unfortunately for them, some people just refuse to lay down and take it. The NFA announced Operation Zero Tolerance on Wednesday (sorry for the delay in passing this along).

Ethics expert says police chiefs' association has track record of "dodgy behaviour."
by Larry Whitmore Executive Director Canadian Shooting Sports Association
In the torrid game of political chess that is poised to scrap Canada's long-gun registry, some players appear willing to sacrifice ethical principles to win.
The kings, knights and rooks are quick to push their pawns to the middle of the board to demonstrate faux teamwork, but many of those pawns are unwilling accomplices. The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), the Canadian Police Association, and the Canadian Association of Police Boards want to maintain the long-gun registry.
But, many front-line police officers have pronounced it useless and potentially dangerous to any cop who believes the data. A national survey taken by an Edmonton police officer last year shows an astounding 92 percent of police respondents want the registry scrapped. |

Registry doesn’t do anything to help protect Canadians
by Dylan Shott The Gateway, University of Alberta
Thanks to intervention by Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, feeble
gun-control measures may survive what should have been a fatal blow. A
private member’s bill currently being sent through the House of Commons
aims to abolish the long-gun registry, which was established under the
1995 Liberal government. The new bill, C-391, passed first and second
readings in the House, and was to go through its third reading as a
free vote.
But the corruption of democracy reared its ugly head when Ignatieff
decided he would whip the vote. It’s contemptible to see MPs ignoring
the wishes of their constituents, an unyielding leader dictating policy
on private members’ bills, and the continuation of the $2-billion
boondoggle that is the failed long-gun registry. |
