The Gun Owners' Resource OnLine Encyclopedia |
| The GOROLE is an online encyclopedia that aspires to be, in time, your one stop for any and all firearms information that you may be looking for. Whether it's sniper rifles, shotguns, WWII arms, ammunition or anything else, we're out there scrounging up anything and everything that we can find on it. Yes, this is something of an ambitious (some would say impossible) project but we're not going to quit until we have everything there is to know, all wrapped up in one website for your convenience. Take a look below and see what our contributors have managed to put together so far. |
A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government. - George Washington |

Born in the cold of the Utah winter in January of 1855, few in his devout Mormon family would have suspected that the young John Moses Browning would grow up to be one of the most famous gunsmiths and firearms designers in American history. His works for his own company, as well as Winchester, Colt, Remington, Savage, and Fabrique Nationale made him arguably as famous as even the legendary Sam Colt.
To this day, many of his designs remain in popular use, both with civilians as well as military and law enforcement agencies. The Browning Superposed remains a trapshooter's favourite, the M1911 pistol still commands admiration amongst handgun enthusiasts and the Browning M2 heavy machine gun is currently the longest-serving machine gun in military history, being in service since 1921. | In 1996 there was a merger between Lakefield Arms (Ontario), Savage Arms Inc., and Passive Bullet Traps Inc., amalgamating under the name Savage Sports Incorporated. |
| The 22-250 is based on the 250-3000 Savage case necked down to .22 caliber and is so named because of the caliber (22) and the parent case (250). | |
| Following the closing of Winchester's New Haven, Connecticut plant in 2007, the Savage Model 110 has passed the Winchester Model 70 as the oldest continuously manufactured bolt action rifle in America. |
| Access to and use of the GOROLE has always been and will always be absolutely free to anyone who wants it. There are no membership fees, no access charges or any other hidden costs to our users. "Free" means just that: FREE! And we mean to keep it that way. While we have no problems with taking a few small donations to help cover the costs of maintaining the server and paying for bandwidth, we just don't seem to have gotten around to setting up the donations page yet. So put your credit card back in your wallet.
The best part about this site is that the GOROLE isn't maintained by a bunch of politicians, gun grabbers or others with an axe to grind. This online encyclopedia is maintained by real firearms owners just like you! The GOROLE is powered by WikiMedia software (just like the famous Wikipedia website) and, just like there, you can contribute your knowledge and experience the the storehouse of information that we're working towards compiling. So feel free to search through the database (using the search box on the left side of any page) or just browse through the categories and see what we have that interests you. Not finding what you're looking for? Not to worry. This project is an ongoing work and information is being updated all the time. If what you're looking for isn't here today, it's only a matter of time before it gets posted to our database. |
