The following article by British author Richard Munday (co-author and editor of the excellent Guns & Violence: The Debate Before Lord Cullen) was originally published in the Times on December 7, 2008 and provides an insightful look at not only the repercussions of the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, but also the faulty logic and failures of the gun control movements in India and the United Kingdom.

His conclusions?  An armed populace is a safe populace and British “gun control” is a farce which puts its citizenry in jeopardy.  As for India:

“Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India,” Mahatma Gandhi said, “history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.” The Mumbai massacre is a bitter postscript to Gandhi’s comment.
