Top gun advocate turns on Tories, runs as Independent

by Claire Wählen

The head of Canada’s main gun lobby group — a group that the Harper government has carefully wooed for years — is breaking ranks and running as an Independent in the B.C. riding of Cariboo-Prince George. Continue reading »

Just so we don’t forget what Mulcair’s real agenda is.

Don’t trust Mulcair’s “no gun registry” promise

The headline at TB News Watch couldn’t be clearer.

“NDP Leader rules out re-introducing fed long gun registry”

The story went on to say…

“Even though both Thunder Bay MPs were punished for breaking rank with the NDP over abolishing the long gun registry back in 2011, Tom Mulcair says he won’t re-introduce the registry if the NDP forms the next government.

The NDP Leader made the comment to reporters in Thunder Bay on Sunday after speaking at a rally of around 300 people.

Terrapins, dyspepsia and the Firearms Act

As most of you already know by now, last Tuesday the Ontario Court of Appeal declared that the Tories’ much-vaunted mandatory minimum sentences for gun possession were unconstitutional because they constitute “cruel and unusual punishment” as prohibited under the Charter.  As much as I loathe (usually Liberal-appointed) judges who bugger about with the will of the elected Parliament, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sooner or later.  And in this case, Justice David Doherty and the rest of the panel got it right.

What the hell is this, you say?  Aren’t all gun owners supposed to be small-c conservatives?  And doesn’t that mean that they’re all big on law and order? No, it doesn’t.  While law and order is all fine and good, the thing that we’re “big on” is justice, and there’s none of that to be found in the Lieberal golden calf that is the Firearms Act. The Coalition for Gun Control wants you all behind bars

Dennis E. Florianby Dennis E. Florian
Gun Owners’ Resource

If, by some bizarre chance, there were ever any doubts as to the true goals and intentions of such malignant organizations as the Coalition for Gun Control, they can now surely be put to rest. Their protestations that they’ve no intention of making anyone a criminal or stealing their property ring as hollow as their heads.  It’s all about safety, they say, and all they’re asking is for those mean, nasty gun nuts to just… be reasonable.

No, it isn’t and no, they aren’t.  Do not be fooled.  Wendy Cukier and her ilk want to wipe their backsides with your fundamental human rights, they want to steal your rightful property, they want to see you in the dock (or better yet, behind bars), and they want to see you branded as a criminal menace to society, like some latter day mark of Cain.  Don’t believe me?  Read on. What, me worry?

October 19, 2015.  This is the tentative date for the next federal election. Will responsible firearms owners vote Conservative? There is growing evidence they may not.

The anger and disappointment percolating through the firearms community due to government inaction could be the beginning of the end. Firearms blogs and industry rumours reveal that many thousands of gun owners will refuse to vote in protest. If that happens, the Conservative majority would be in dire straits in 2015. The Harper government could even be demoted to the opposition benches. Continue reading »
